This wok method statement is to ensure the correct procedures are carried out in accordance with the inspection and testing of the Portable Fire Extinguishers as per the Fire Protection Association and site specific instructions.
General:
* sign in an out logbooks in security office to prior commencement of testing and or works.
* All site personal to report to Facility Maintenance Management and sign in attendance book and key register logbook .
* All faults to be reported to Facilities Maintenance representatives.
Access:
* Parking of company vehicles in approved car parking facilities only.
* Access to work areas through common area.
* Access locked area to be gained through security , or keys issued from facility maintenance .
Safety:
* Protective clothing and footwear to be warn.
* Safety glasses and hearing protection to be worn where required.
* Non-Hazardous material to be taken on site.
* M.S.D.S to be provided
Inspection and Testing:
* Locate fire extinguisher to be inspected using the asset register.
* Inspect unit weight and visually inspect for damage .
* Check for pin operation , remove tamper seal and replace with new tamper seal.
* Check appropriate signage is installed.
* Where a five yearly inspection is required (e.g pressure tests) install a secure fire loan unit in its place and take off site for test to be completed .
* When five yearly tests have been carried out , re-install unit to its intended location.
Housekeeping:
* All excess rubbish to be removed from fire control room and pathways.
* to be free of rubbish and unobstructed at all times
